The Foundation of the "Order of Danilo I" was registered with the Ministry of Justice in the Republic of Montenegro on the 7 February 2005.

The purpose of the foundation is to support the charitable and fundraising activities of the newly created Petrovitch Njegos Foundation, in association with members of the Order of Prince Danilo I of Montenegro. The Petrovitch Njegos Foundation is devoted to humanitarian and charitable projects.
